Zachary Driving Academy, LLC
Rules and Procedures

(ALL RULES APPLY TO CLASSROOM, LUNCH TIME, AND THE DRIVER’S ED VEHICLE)

1. Students and parents must be punctual. All summer and holiday classes start at 8 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. Late pickup of students from class will result in a late fee assessed at $1 per minute combined. No exceptions. Classes may be canceled upon owner’s discretion.

2. Students must pass the entire 38-Hour Course inclusive of the following requirements before the Dept. of Public Safety Certificate of Completion will be issued:

A.) Classroom, 30 hours 80% grade on final grade
B.) Behind-The-Wheel, 8 hours 70% grade from instructors

3. If a student’s grade average becomes low, parents will be contacted at the end of the first day only. Grade averages are provided daily whereby students can inform parents, if failing. Any learning disability notice should be given to office staff when registering, so that reasonable accommodations can be made. If a student fails, he/she must retake the class at a charge of $100.00 due before retaking the class.

4. Absences should be called in to our office. Any absence of classroom time must be rescheduled and made up before any behind-the-wheel driving can begin. Rescheduling must occur within 30 days of absence or next class, or no certificate will be issued and all fees will be forfeited. Tardiness of 10 minutes or more will be considered an absence whereby student must meet the stated requirements above.

5. Once the driving schedules are made and distributed to the student, IT IS FINAL! A cancellation/change requires a $25 rescheduling fee. Due to the heavy volume of students driving during the summer, the reschedule may not occur until September.

6. All students will be picked up and dropped off at Zachary Driving Academy for behind-the- wheel driving. Arrival time will be 15 min. prior to return time to eliminate interference in our tight scheduling. We will not leave a student at the office alone; however, the driver’s are not paid to wait on parents so you must be prompt. If a problem persists, parents will be billed for the driver’s time.

7. We will only wait 10 minutes for students to arrive at the Zachary Driving Academy for driving. Attempts will be made to call you but if your arrival time is more than 10 min. late, the driver will leave and you must go to the office to reschedule, which requires paying a $25 rescheduling fee. The wait time will be deducted from your total time.

8. Cheating will not be tolerated! One warning will be given which will apply to the whole class, regardless of the person at fault. A second offense will result in dismissal and forfeiture of all fees paid. This decision will be at the discretion of the Teaching Instructor.

9. All students have 30 minutes for lunch and are on their own. They may bring lunch or walk to the nearby Subway or Big Easy Po’boys. In the event of rain, we will take food orders only for delivery. We provide a refrigerator for personal lunch storage, use of microwave for heating, and vending machines for student’s use.

10. Student will not for any reason show disrespect to the instructors, display unruly class conduct, go to sleep, or walk around in the classroom. If a problem persists after a warning, dismissal from the class and a forfeiture of all fees paid will occur.

11. While driving behind-the-wheel, all traffic laws will be obeyed and instructor’s comments adhered to. Your lives as well as the lives of others are at risk. Students must be 15 years old before they can begin the behind-the-wheel training. Students will not be allowed to have cell phones in the car and cannot wear any-style slip-on shoes when driving.

12. There will be “No Smoking” on the premises of the school or in the driver training cars because it is illegal to posses/use tobacco products under the age 18. This will also include evidence or suspicion of drugs or alcoholic beverages. Evidence of the above will result in dismissal and forfeiture of all fees paid.

13. Destruction of school property or others’ property will not be tolerated. Students will not write and/or draw obscene words, pictures or any other graffiti on the tables, chairs or in the textbooks. Students are issued a numbered book and a seat will be assigned to them in which they are responsible for. Any and all damages by the student will be paid before a Completion Certificate will be issued. No Exceptions!

14. CELL PHONES are not permitted in class or during behind-the-wheel training. At the beginning of each class, all electronic devices will “checked in” at the front office and will be returned at the end of the day. Students are not allowed to use the office phone unless the situation is an emergency.

15. Students must wear attire that is suitable for their school classroom and behind-the-wheel training. Clothing such as sagging pants, torn jeans, short shirts, etc., will not be permitted.

16. Anyone who wishes to file a complaint against the school may contact the Training and Certification Unit at the Office of Motor Vehicles, P.O.Box 64886, Baton Rouge, LA. 70896. Attn: Training and Certification Unit.
